Darlo Digital sees the growth of online higher education driving student behaviour over the next decade.
The Growth of Online Higher Education.
A new trend and demand among students and employers is for micro-credentials, faster learning periods, and pick-and-choose style education curriculum. It is likely that independent, private education will be delivered straight to students, rather than needing to be quality assured by any regulator or agency. This makes sense. Since the speed of any single government body to review content is unwieldy, and that education is likely to be delivered, less and less via classroom instruction at a university campus, then cutting out the middle man makes sense. It is likely government accreditation – an industry unto itself – will be unnecessary for the expansion or growth of online courses. Lots more work for instructional designers and content producers.
